Co-ordination across Europe needed to combat growing disease threat

Co-ordination across Europe is needed to combat the growing threat of avian flu and other infectious diseases, according to a report from the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC), launched today (14 June 2005) at a meeting of MEPs in Brussels.

EASAC, which includes representatives from 22 national science academies, brought together a group of experts to prepare the report on infectious diseases and identify the priority areas for action in Europe.
