UNFCCC official COP26 side event: Climate action to protect and promote health

Climate change adversely affects human health worldwide through multiple direct and indirect pathways. Responding to these effects requires connected strategies for mitigation (reducing greenhouse gas emissions) and adaptation (adjusting to what cannot be avoided).

Wednesday 10 Nov

Time and Location

  • 12:30-13:45 CET
  • Glasgow and virtual

This official side event at the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference 2021 is jointly organised by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), the Royal Society and the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), the global network of academies of science, engineering and medicine, together with regional networks in Africa (NASAC), Asia (AASSA), the Americas (IANAS) and Europe (EASAC). We aim to share knowledge on similarities and differences between and within regions for climate effects on health, and discuss options for adaptation and mitigation, strengthening health systems, and informing science-policy interfaces.

The side event will take place on Wednesday, 10 Nov, 2021, 11:30-12:45 GMT, Lomond Auditorium at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, UK.
