EASAC report on "Decarbonisation of Transport" successfully launched

During a public launch event in Brussels on 20 March we have published our report on "Decarbonisation of Transport", which reviews options for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from European road transport and provides recommendations for short- and long-term policy measures.

After our President, Professor Thierry Courvosier, introduced EASAC as organisation the project leader Professor Konstantinos Boulouchos, ETH-Zürich presented the process and results of our study. Following that the Director of the EASAC Energy Programme Dr William Gillett demonstrated the policy implications from EASAC's perspective.

In a panel discussion with representatives from the European Parliament (Michael Cramer, MEP), the European Commission (DG CLIMA, Damien Meadows), the Joint Research Centre (Alois Krasenbrink), the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA, Petr Dolejsi) and Transport and Environment (T&E, Thomas Earl) the results and recommendations of our publication were evaluated.

Closing remarks were made by Maria da Graça Carvalho from the European Commission.
