A letter expressing concerns at the impact of recent developments relating to the General Data Protection Regulation (including the ECJ decision in the “Shrems II” case) for international sharing of health data for research was sent this morning to EU Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Didier Reynders.
Professors Volker ter Meulen (Chairman of EASAC Biosciences Programme) and George Griffin (President of the Federation of European Academies of Medicine, FEAM) sent this letter in their capacity as co-chairs of the joint European Academy networks (ALLEA, EASAC, and FEAM) project on International sharing of personal health data for research.
