Romuald Zabielski

Romuald Zabielski is professor in veterinary medicine at the Center for Translational Medicine, Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

Romuald Zabielski studied veterinary medicine at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland, where he also obtained his PhD in 1990, and habilitation in 1995. He is a specialist in animal physiology, in particular the physiology of neonatal pig and calf, and veterinary prevention.  He became a professor of veterinary medicine in 2004. He has published several monographs and student textbooks and over 250 refereed papers and invited reviews. Professor Zabielski’s research focuses on the postnatal development of the gastrointestinal system in livestock, and the role of brain-gut axis in controlling it. In collaboration with industrial partners, he elaborated several feed additives and dietary supplements improving gut health in livestock and human including microencapsulated butyrate products.

Romuald Zabielski is a member of the Polish Academy of Science (since 2013). Professor Zabielski is active in disseminating knowledge on “One Health” concept with articles, books, seminars, and interviews in the media.
