Franc Zlahtic
Franc Žlahtič (Slovenia) graduated, received master degree and obtained a PhD at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He developed his professional career as a researcher with the Elektroinštitut Milan Vidmar, Ljubljana and as an assistant to professor on Faculty at the same time. After 25 years of practical and theoretical research and academic work with the Elektroinštitut he moved in year 2002 to ministry for energy and served as an advisor to government, secretary and acting director general. During the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2008, he chaired energy dossier. After leaving government administration in year 2011 he collaborated with the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and joined to Slovenian gas transmission system operator Plinovodi as an advisor in year 2012. He is an author of three patents. He established and chaired technical committees of the Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST). He is a member of CIGRÉ-CIRED, chair of the Slovenian World Energy Council for many years, a member of the Regional Centre for Energy Policy Research Advisory Board (REKK) and a member of Energy Council of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is a founder of association for cornea irregularities and illness Roženica.
