Karol Marhold

Karol Marhold (Slovakia) is senior researcher at the Plant Science and Biodiversity Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Vice-President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences for Section of Life, Chemical, Medical, and Environmental Sciences, and full Professor of Botany at the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He is also Secretary-General of the International Association for Plant Taxonomy, Fellow of the Linnean Society of London and is active also in other scientific societies. His research focuses on plant phylogeny, evolution, polyploidy, taxonomy, systematics, nomenclature, and biodiversity informatics. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Plant Systematics and Evolution and member of editorial boards of number of other journals. He is author or co-author of more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Ecology and Evolution.
