Energy and Environment Steering Panels Meeting in Brussels 11 May

The members of the EASAC Environment Steering Panel and the EASAC Energy Steering Panel have met in Brussels on 11 May. On their agenda was the discussion of upcoming EASAC studies, such as the Energy Programme’s plans for a study on Carbon Capture and Storage, the Environment Programme’s study on Climate Change Adaptation, and the planned joint study on Biofuels and Biodiversity. Members of the two Steering Panels were also informed about an EASAC project – run by the two Programme Secretaries and partly funded by the InterAcademy Panel – on the dialogue between science and policy in Europe. Furthermore, provoked by the recent debate about the Science behind Climate Change, the Panels discussed the draft text of a proposed public statement of EASAC on this issue.
