SCNAT-chaired workshop "Open Data in Science: Challenges and Opportunities for Europe", Brussels, 31.01.2018

The workshop addresses the challenges and opportunities of Open Data for the scientific enterprise in the European context.

As a working basis we shall refer to the ‘Open Data Accord’. Drafted in December 2015 by four global science umbrella organisations, including the International Council for Science through its Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), this document makes recommendations for action by different stakeholders.

The workshop aims to involve the science academies among the European Members of the International Council for Science and further academy organisations in a science policy dialogue on Open Data and to offer guidance for both the science and policy community. The ambition is also to engage these science organisations in the further development of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The workshop takes place under the patronage of European Members of the International Council for Science. This group is chaired and hosted by the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT).
