Resilience and Preparedness in Europe’s Energy Transition: From Scientific Insights to Policy Action

Europe faces renewed geopolitical tensions, climate-related disruptions, digital vulnerabilities and fragile supply chains. In this context, sustainability, energy security, resilience and competitiveness are increasingly interconnected priorities.

Monday 08 Jun

Time and Location

  • 8 June 2026, 15:30 - 18:30 CEST
  • Rue Guimard 9, 1040 Brussels, Belgium

On Monday, 8 June 2026 at 15:30 CEST, EERASINTEF and EASAC, are co-hosting a panel discussion on how Europe can strengthen energy systems’ resilience, integration and preparedness to ensure a secure, affordable and sustainable energy transition. The event is taking place as part of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2026 Sustainable Energy Days initiative.

Building on recent scientific analyses from NTNU/SINTEF, EASAC and EERA, the discussion will address the following questions:

  • How can resilience and preparedness be better embedded into Europe’s energy transition?
  • Which scientific insights should guide policy, investment and system planning?
  • What governance, technological and societal measures are needed to secure a clean, competitive and robust Energy Union?

The panel discussion will bring together experts from research, EU institutions and industry to explore how Europe can strengthen energy resilience, preparedness and competitiveness in the low-carbon energy transition. The exchange will also examine how EU research and innovation frameworks - including FP10 and the European Competitiveness Fund - can better support resilient, secure and competitive energy systems.
