David Honys
David Honys (Czech Republic) is a Professor of plant genomics and proteomics and a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Experimental Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. He also holds a professorship at Charles University, where he contributes to teaching in plant experimental biology.
His research focuses on plant reproductive biology, with particular emphasis on pollen development, gene expression, and cellular processes underlying plant sexual reproduction. He has made significant contributions to the application of transcriptomics and proteomics in plant science, advancing understanding of gene regulation during male gametophyte development.
Professor Honys leads the Laboratory of Pollen Biology and has authored over 140 scientific publications, with several thousand citations, reflecting his sustained impact in plant molecular biology and genomics.
In addition to his research, he is actively involved in international scientific collaboration and advisory activities, contributing expertise in plant biology, genomics, and experimental systems to interdisciplinary initiatives.
