Craig Primmer

Craig Primmer (Finland) is Professor of Genomics at the University of Helsinki and also currently holds the post of vice Dean (Research) at the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences. His research has focussed on studying the evolution, genomics and conservation of free-living species. His research has identified examples of local adaptation and rapid evolution in several species as well the genetic basis of these processes. Recently the emphasis of the group’s research has been on understanding the molecular basis and evolutionary importance of life-history variation in Atlantic salmon. Primmer has received a number of major research grants to support this work, including back to back ERC Advanced Grants.
