Aleksandra Komorowska

Aleksandra Komorowska (Poland) is an Associate Professor at the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow, where she heads the Division of Minerals and Energy Sustainable Development. Her research focuses on electricity and district heating market design and support mechanisms, the economics of energy storage and green hydrogen, and the integration of variable renewables into heating and electricity systems. Across these fields, she applies techno-economic analysis and mathematical modelling to assess how regulatory design and market mechanisms can accelerate the decarbonisation of the heating and power sectors in Europe.

She is the author and co-author of some forty peer-reviewed papers published in journals including Energy Policy, Applied Energy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy, and the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, and of a monograph on hydrogen in the Polish energy transition.

She leads research teams in projects funded under Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020, as well as in projects supported by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) and the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR). She advises Polish public institutions and industry associations on heat tariff reform and transition strategy, and Poland’s leading energy companies on research and development priorities. She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences and of the Scientific Council of the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology.
