Lars Walløe

Lars Walløe (Norway) is the Chair of EASAC’s Environment Steering Panel and has initiated EASAC’s report on “Trends in Extreme Weather Events in Europe”. He is Professor emeritus and senior researcher at the Department of Physiology at the University of Oslo. He has worked scientifically in many different fields and chaired the Norwegian research programme on acid rain in the 1970s and a similar programme jointly conducted by British, Swedish and Norwegian researchers in the 1980s. Professor Walløe had been President of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and President of Academia Europaea for the last six years. Lars Walløe has published vastly on cardiovascular physiology, but also on neuronal nets, statistical methodology, historical demography, population biology, reproductive epidemiology, environmental questions and whale biology.
