Launch Event EASAC-JRC report Nanosafety and EASAC-JRC "Letter of Intent"
EASAC will shortly publish a new policy report titled "Impact of Engineered Nanomaterials on Health: Considerations for Benefit-Risk Assessment". This policy report is the result of the first strategic liaison between the JRC and EASAC and provides independent, cross-referenced, science-based analysis of the impact of nanomaterials on human health.
There will be a launch event for the publication of this report on 18th October in Brussels 15:30-19:30at the Royal Academies for Science and the Arts of Belgium 1 rue Ducale, 1000 Brussels.
During this event a formal signing of a Letter of Intent between the JRC and EASAC will take place, about closer co-operation between the two organisations.
This joint initiative of EASAC and the JRC contributes to the collective Europe 2020 targets and supports integrated efforts for nanotechnology innovation, as well as public debate on the future of nanomaterials. Based on the experience of the initiative, and with existing synergies between the activities of the two organisations, a more structured cooperation is being developed in order to address other scientific topics relevant to the key priorities of the EU and to create closer links between EU national science academies and the policy-making processes in the EU.
This launch event offers the opportunity for an exchange of views between various actors involved in the public debate on nanotechnology, including EU policy makers, industry and NGOs.
