Partnering for Progress: Strengthening Science and Policy through Multilateral Collaboration

How do collaborative frameworks shape evidence-based policies? How can we build partnerships across disciplines, sectors, and borders to enhance resilience in the face of emerging crises, drive innovation, and ensure inclusive and impactful policy outcomes for a sustainable future?

These questions were addressed at the side event "Partnering for Progress: Strengthening Science and Policy through Multilateral Collaboration for Tomorrow" at the Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM) to the European Commission Conference 2025, organized in joint cooperation by EASAC, the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).

Following a keynote on "Collaboration in science and research without borders: Austria’s approach to international cooperation, mobility, and networking" by Barbara Weitgruber (Director General for Scientific Research and International Relations, Austrian Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research), a panel featuring Lise Øvreås (EASAC), Simone Gingrich (EASAC/ÖAW) and Karen Lips (IIASA) discussed "The Role of Science Networks in Shaping Policy Futures".

In an interative poster session, EASAC contributed four presentations on past initiatives, their successes and challenges.
